The First Year Dinner is a great opportunity for first year students to meet each other and to have any questions you may have about university answered by older students. The Dinner will also be attended by ECON1010 Lecturer James Laurenceson who is happy to answer any questions you may have about studying economics.
In addition to getting a delicious Pizza Cafe pizza, everyone who attends the Dinner will also be given a copy of our First Year Guide, which contains heaps of advice for getting the most out of your time at university.

The UQESA 2009 Special General Meeting is to be held on Thursday 29th October at 7pm. The venue is to be the Pizza Cafe.
The 2010 UQ ESA executive will be elected at the Special General Meeting after the presentation of the President, Treasurer and Secretary reports. There will also be time for general discussion and the proposal of constitutional amendments.
You may nominate for the positions of:
• President
• Vice President (sponsorship and work experience)
• Vice President (activities and publication)
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• Publications Officer x 2
• Social Officers x 2
• Sports Officer
• Marketing Officer
• IT Officer
• First Year Officer
We encourage you to nominate in advance by sending an email stating your intentions to esa@uqesa.com or by nominating yourself on the wall of this event. A list of people nominated for positions prior to the SGM is posted below. However, nominations will be accepted from the floor.
If a position is contested, speeches will be 2 minutes, followed by 3 minutes of questions, except for president, which will be a 4 minute speech, and 6 minutes of questions. Note that you do not have to be a member to nominate, but you do have to be a member to vote.

The annual UQ ESA Formal Dinner is a great opportunity to sit back, socialise and learn from this year's guest speaker in a relaxed laid back environment. Pre dinner drinks will commence from 6:30pm followed by a three course meal. This year's guest speaker is Peter Crossman (Assistant Under Treasurer and Government Statistician). He heads The Office of Economic and Statistical Research, which is responsible for ensuring the delivery of economic and statistical research output for Queensland, in particular, providing economic and statistical research services to support and inform improved planning, decision making, policy development and resource allocation. Parking is available onsite.

Drinks will be provided on the evening. Tickets are limited so get in fast! You'll be able to get tickets from us over the next 2 weeks from 10am to 4pm outside the Colin Clark Building (39) or alternatively if that doesn't suit please contact us and we'll see what we can do!
Our first event of the year! Come along and celebrate the start of another year! It'll be a fantastic opportunity to socialise, meet new people and have some fun before the semester starts getting a bit more hectic!! We'll even help get things going with some initial beverages provided :). An ESA card will be required but luckily we'll be signing members up on the night - so if you haven't got a chance to sign up yet this is the perfect opportunity! We hope to see you all there :).
